The inner voice of Bus
(2015, revised in 2025)

Media: Video installation, site-specific photography, an old TV set

From 2015 to now, the competitiveness of buses has been overshadowed by the rapid expansion of the MTR network in Hong Kong.

“Bus” is personified as a tragedian and his series of lines convey his despair and resentment. Photos are displayed in the style of 1980-1990s Hong Kong movie and framed in an abandoned television, symbolizing the bleak future of Bus.

Site-specific photos:
Kwun Tong (photo 1-3): "MTR on top vs Bus below" - a visual metaphor for the dominance of the MTR with its elevated tracks looming over the buses below.

To Kwa Wan (photo 4): once a massive construction site for the Shatin to Central Link expansion project in 2015, today it is a fully operational station on the Tuen Ma Line.

Diamond Hill (photo 5): a major interchange station for the Tuen Ma Line nowadays while already serving the Kwun Tong Line before.

Kennedy Town: a newly opened station for MTR West Island Line in 2015.
